Liposuction: a quick fix...or is it.!

This topic came to mind because my best friend just got 10,000 dollars worth of liposuction! Wow! I know.  She wasn't extremely overweight but she had problem areas that she wanted to fix.  Basically she wanted a quick fix because she didn't want to or wasn't motivated to work out and loose the fat by exercise or dieting.  More and more people are turning to this kind of procedure to get quick results but are ending up gaining weight again because they haven't learn to change their lifestyle or eating habits and thus the weight will just come right back.  A few years ago I lost 35 pounds the hard way....suffering through dieting and exercising everyday.  I felt great and I was rewarded with the fact that this new body was contributed to all my efforts.  Fortuanelty the weight stayed off and I learned to eat smaller portions and I gained a love for going to the gym and feeling great afterwards.  When you skip this step and just get fat removed I think you stand a greater chance of the weight or fat coming back because you haven't learned discipline or the feeling of accomplishing something.  What are your thoughts on liposuction and other plastic surgeries?

  1. Liposuction is not a quick fix long term, it is for the very short term. But, just like anything else you have to maintain it. So if your friend thinks she can carry on her past diet and lack of excercise and maintain her post liposcution she will be sadly mistaken. I have a cousin and a couple of friends who found this out for themselves. They to thought it was a quick fix and found it was harder work to maintain this than it would have been to be like yourself and watch what they ate and exercised and lost slowly but surely. My one friend ended up gaining so much back that after the liposcution that where she gained her weight she almost looked disfigured. I hope your friend realizes that this is not a quick fix nor is it a tool. I think that she could have saved thousands and worked like you to get it off. I would strongly talk to your friend.

  2. Its a mindset Americans have today, "we want it and we want it now". So many are not willing to do the hard work, and it is hard work, it takes to diet and exercise nor do they want to put in the time. With more disposable income and procedures becoming more available these types of "quick fixes" become attractive to those looking for acceptance. Nothing will take the place of old fashion stick-to-itiveness and self love.
